Thyme and sage tea

Hi guys!

Today I will share with you a recipe for an extraordinary thyme and sage tea.

Personally, I am a tea and a coffee person, and I mostly alternate between these two depending on my mood on a particular day.

A TEA/COFFEE PERSON - a tea/coffee lover

TO ALTERNATE BETWEEN - to change from one thing to another repeatedly

A savoury blend of thyme and sage makes a tea both delicious and medicinal.

It’s a comforting way to soothe a sore throat, a strep throat and to clear the sinuses using all natural ingredients and a little bit of prep.

A BLEND – a mixture of different things

SAGE – a plant whose greyish-green leaves are used as a herb

MEDICINAL – having the power to heal

TO SOOTHE – to ease the pain of sth

A STREP THROAT – a painful throat infected by streptococcus bacteria

THE SINUSES – the cavities in the skull lined with mucus

PREP = PREPARATION

Ingredients :

  • 1 tbsp fresh thyme (tbsp = tablespoon)

  • 1 tbsp fresh sage

  • 3-4 cups cold water

  • 1 lemon rind

  • honey

Directions:

1) In a large teapot, bring the water to a simmer and quickly remove it from the heat. The water should not be scorching hot but just hot enough to brew.

A TEAPOT – a container for making and serving tea with a handle and an opening

TO BRING STH TO A SIMMER

TO SIMMER – to cook sth at a temperature slightly below boiling

SCORCHING HOT – very hot

TO BREW –to make sth develop flavour

2) Fill a tea ball or a sachet with thyme, sage and lemon rind bits. Secure the lid of the tea ball/ squeeze the sachet tightly.

A TEA BALL – a tea infuser in the shape of a ball

A SACHET - a paper bag

LEMON RIND - a hard outer layer of a lemon

A LID – a cover

3) Dunk the tea ball/sachet in the pot for 10 minutes and then remove it.

TO DUNK STH –to put something into liquid for a short time

4) Serve the tea hot with honey if preferred.

5) Sit down comfortably in your chair and enjoy your tea :)

Bye for now,

Micha
